This really does not do it justice, but the night market is a bustling place. It is located next to a university so there are many college students there. I really enjoy going to the market at least one night each trip to experience the carnival like atmosphere.
This is my friend Nick. We are in a place at the Night Market in Taichung where you get a bowl of shaved ice with fruit or some kind of flavoring on top. Maybe this was the precursor to the snowcone. It definitely is good on a warm, humid Taiwan night.

This is not actually where I am right now, but last weekend I was in Bath County Virginia where we used to live. It was the weekend of the Bath County Sprint Triathlon. I entered not being sure if I would do anything other than the swim of 750M. I ended up actually making it through the whole event (12 miles on the bike and 3.1 miles on the run). It was my first ever triathlon and I was pretty excited to finish. It took me over two hours and I actually walked 90% of the run, but it was great finishing!

This is where I went to church in Taichung on Saturday night. It was a really neat church with a pretty serious praise band including eletric and bass guitars. The average age was probably 22 and they have grown to having 4 services between Saturday and Sunday on the weekends. The link is www.bannerch.org.tw
The streets in Taiwan can be very colorful. This picture probably does not really do it justice, but wanted to show it.
I only showed part of the ordering process, but this spread was the result. We had a hot pot where the white side was mild and the darker side was spicy. Different things were added to the soup and cooked and then eaten. Dessert which is not shown was shaved rice with a strawberry sauce similar to a snow cone, but real fruit.
Ordering is almost an art form here in Taiwan. My good friend Nick is ordering at the Szechuan Restaurant where we ate last night.
